Community & Investigation Guidelines

Standards for responsible participation, reporting, and investigation on the Paranormal Response Network.

Community Standards

  • Treat all members with respect regardless of belief, background, or experience level.
  • Debate and scepticism are welcome; personal attacks and harassment are not.
  • Do not share private information about witnesses, reporters, or investigation subjects without explicit consent.
  • Do not fabricate, embellish, or deliberately misrepresent reports, evidence, or case data.
  • Credit original sources and researchers when referencing their work.

Reporting Guidelines

  • Use the Reporting Wizard to submit reports of unusual activity.
  • Provide as much factual detail as possible: dates, times, locations, environmental conditions, witnesses present.
  • Distinguish clearly between what was directly observed and what was inferred or interpreted.
  • Include any available supporting material: photographs, audio, video, readings, documents.
  • Do not submit fictional or creative-writing accounts as genuine reports.

Investigation Standards

  • Approach all cases with an open but critical mindset.
  • Consider and document conventional explanations before exploring anomalous possibilities.
  • Record methodology, equipment used, environmental baselines, and control observations.
  • Preserve original evidence — do not alter, enhance, or filter source material without documenting the changes.
  • Respect site access permissions, property boundaries, and local laws at all times.
  • Prioritise personal safety and the safety of all team members during any field work.

Content & Research

  • All research shared on PRN should be honestly presented with clear sourcing.
  • Distinguish between established findings, preliminary observations, and speculation.
  • Use careful language: "reported," "alleged," "documented," "observed" — not "proven," "confirmed," or "definitely."

Enforcement

  • PRN reserves the right to remove content or restrict accounts that violate these guidelines.
  • Repeated or serious violations may result in permanent suspension.
  • Decisions on enforcement are made by PRN administration and are final.
