Investigation Summary
Shaniwar Wada is the surviving fortified precinct of the Peshwas in central Pune, begun under Baji Rao I in the early 1730s and later expanded as the administrative palace of Peshwa power. On 30 August 1773, armed Gardi troops killed the young Peshwa Narayanrao during a succession crisis involving his uncle Raghunathrao. The murder is historical fact; the exact responsibility for the killing, the famous altered-order story and Narayanrao’s final words require more careful qualification than popular accounts usually provide.
Modern folklore says a voice cries Kaka, mala vachva, Uncle, save me, especially on full-moon nights. PRN found no contemporary record proving an unbroken haunting tradition, no named modern witness dossier, no authenticated audio and no controlled investigation. Claims about chains, handprints, underground cells and shadow figures are poorly sourced.
The case is therefore a documented political murder surrounded by commercially amplified local folklore, not established paranormal activity.
